Christmas Opening Hours

Saturday 21st December until 4pm
 
We will close at 4.00pm on Monday 23rd December for our annual Christmas Break and will re-open at 8.30am on Thursday 2nd January 2025.
 
Please Note: 
All online orders placed after 1pm on Friday 20th December will be dispatched on or after Thursday 2nd January. Click and Collect will finish on Monday 23rd  December at 1pm.
 
So don’t miss your chance to pick up something special before Christmas.
 
We had yet another magical year in the store and we hope you will join us again in-store in 2025 for more demonstrations and classes, which will be shown on our events page. Keep an eye out for one of our Pop-up displays as we travel around the country again in the coming year.

Woodworking Demonstrations and Advice this Saturday 

This Saturday between 10am - 3.30pm we have a very exciting woodworking demo day. We will be joined by James Peer from Axminster Tools and he will be on hand to offer advice on machinery including our new range of Laguna machinery. James will also be demonstrating the UJK Parf system and tools.

Paula Gormley will be showing us her artistic pyrography skills and will have a couple of Peter Child Pyrography Machines set up for you to try. Paula will also be cutting veneers and talking us through the best way to approach Marquetry.

John Kane will be talking about Scroll saws and will show you the tips and tricks to make sure your projects are successful every time.

Adrian Finlay will be carving out some interesting pieces and will advise on how to get started and how to choose the correct tools. He will be happy to answer any questions on the best wood to use and how to over come the most common problems.

We are also delighted that Vincent Howard from Festool Ireland will be demonstrating the new additions to the Festool range and some of the old reliables. There will be special offers across the Festool range in store only this Saturday so drop in and get and try the tools you love.

There will also be demonstrations in sharpening and see the Shaper in action!

We’re also thrilled to give you a first look at some exciting New Brands to the store, including LAGUNA Machinery, SHAPER TOOLS, WOODPECKERS Woodworking Tools and the return of Lie-Nielsen Toolworks.

And of course we’ll have plenty of special offers, hot drinks & mince pies for you to enjoy with the demos.

Demonstrations Saturday 30th November 10am

Meet Clive Brooks from Robert Sorby Tools on Saturday 30th November 10am to 3.30pm in The Carpentry Store. Clive will be looking at texturing, sharpening and all things turning.

Clive is an experienced demonstrator and has been with Robert Sorby for over 25 years and he will answer all your questions about woodturning and on the wide range of tools available from Robert Sorby.


We will also be joined by Rita Murphy as she turns some of her popular items. Rita is a member of the Irish Woodturners Guilds Cork Chapter and is an award winning woodturner with a genuine passion for the art of woodturning.

Working with Resin & Polishing Demonstration

Come along and find out about how to pour and use resin in your projects with Noel Fay. Mervyn Jenkins will then demonstrate how to sand and polish your work using the Mirka range of Abrasives.

Celtic Stickmakers Demonstration

with Paul Purnell

Paul Purnell is an experienced wood carver and author. Paul specialises in birds, animals, and other wildlife. His carving style includes a mixture of tools and his demonstration and talk will inspire beginners and experienced a like.

Deneb

Woodworking Courses with Deneb Puchalski

Monday 27th May - Saturday 1st June 2024

The Carpentry Store is excited to announce the return of Deneb Puchalski, this time with a range of woodworking courses covering Monday the 27th of May to Saturday the 1st of June. Deneb will be covering everything from hand tool sharpening to the proper use of hand tools. There will also be courses making projects, such as a three-step shaker stool, and a dovetailed bread box. These will be pieces you will be making that you can take home with you at the end of the course. Courses are limited to eight people to ensure you receive adequate attention for the course duration. Book now to avoid disappointment.

About the Instructor: Deneb Puchalski is the lead demonstrator for Lie-Nielsen Toolworks and has travelled across North America and the UK teaching people how to use Hand Tools. Deneb studied woodworking at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine. He went on to become an assistant instructor and artist-in-residence at that school, during which time he honed his woodworking skills and sense of design. In addition to contributing articles to various woodworking magazines, Deneb has created numerous YouTube instructional videos about hand tools and woodworking. He has also taught workshops at woodworking schools around the world.

We are delighted to announce the return of our Woodwork, Hobby & Craft Fair in 2022 and full details will be announced in August.

As always the fair will consists of trade stands, live demonstrations, clinics and talks. There will be experts on hand to answer questions and inform you of the latest in the woodworking world. No matter your area of interest we are sure to have it covered with Woodturning, Woodcarving, Wood Finishing, Pyrography, Routing, Cabinetry, Stick Making, Sharpening, Machinery, Hand and Power Tools.
