The Verum No. 91 Shoulder Plane is the smaller of the Verum shoulder plane family, designed for delicate trimming, fine rebates, and precision joinery. Its compact size and lightweight feel make it easy to control in one hand, while the full-width T10 blade ensures accurate, square cuts every time.
The precision-ground CR40 body is finished with softened edges and polished detailing for comfort, while crisp 90° corners provide reference for precise, accurate trimming. The 15° bedding angle and razor-sharp iron slice smoothly with or across the grain, while the adjustable mouth allows you to close up for delicate finishing or open wider for heavier passes without risk of tear-out.
Designed with Peter Sefton
Each Verum plane is created in collaboration with Wood Workers Workshop’s owner, Peter Sefton — a master craftsman and woodworking educator. His expertise shaped every aspect of the No. 91, from the ergonomics of the lever cap to the adjuster design, making it a tool that’s both accurate and a pleasure to use.
Ergonomics & Comfort
Planted in the Hand
The sculpted body and swooping stainless steel lever cap nestle comfortably in the palm, keeping the plane stable and controlled.
Lightweight Control
At just 340g, the No. 91 is easy to manoeuvre, making it ideal for precision detail trimming and one-handed use.
Blade Control & Adjustment
Fine Adjustment
The captive fine-threaded screw gives precise control over blade depth and stays in tension for consistent, repeatable cuts.
Adjustable Mouth
Close tight for delicate shoulder work or open for heavier cuts — always with control and without tear-out.
Build Quality & Performance
Precision Ground Body
CR40 ductile iron construction with stainless steel fittings ensures strength, stability, and long service life.
T10 Carbon Steel Blade
The 13mm full-width iron is water-hardened for sharpness, durability, and easy honing, giving a crisp finish in small joints and rebates.
