Seasons Greetings 2016

First of all we would like to thank everyone for their support and custom during 2016 and to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Also just a quick reminder that we’re open until 8pm on Thursday and until 5.30pm on Friday 23rd December. We close for our annual holidays on Friday until 3rd of January.

We think you will agree it was an eventful year and we had many enjoyable days. The year was packed with Love, Launches, Celebrations and Demonstrations.

Love was in the air early in the year when Alan came in to get some timber to make an engagement ring for Catherine and they were followed by Patrick & Julie who were looking for some exotic hardwood for their wedding rings and materials to make wedding favours. Congratulations to you all and we hope you have long and happy lives together.

The year also saw a couple of Launches like the new Tormek T8 watercooled sharpening system. We were delighted when Glenn Lucas came along to demonstrate and launch this new innovation from Tormek. In November we had the pleasure of launching and using the new Nova Galaxy Lathe at our Woodwork Hobby & Craft Fair. We are pleased to announce that next year’s fair will take place on the 10th & 11thNovember 2017.

The celebrations continued when Stuart Hayes won the Cornerstone Project in Bolton Street D.I.T. The Carpentry Store has been the proud sponsor of The Cornerstone Project in Furniture & Joinery Manufacture for the past couple of years. We wish Stuart and all his classmates every success as they embark on their woodworking careers.

We had many demonstrations over the year covering a wide range of topics. We want to thank all our demonstrators who shared their skills and brought the wood to life. You can see some of the examples of their work around the shop. Just to mention one… Emmet Kane’s exhibition is ending on 8th January in Collins Barracks. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth the visit… and it’s free. For more details…

Looking forward to the New Year we have a couple of new brands on the way and we will be opening our Academy where we will have permanent displays of working Power Tools and Machinery. As part of the developments in 2017 we are opening our new fully equipped classroom and demonstration theatre. We hope you will join us for some of the classes, which will be shown on our events page. Our next demonstration is on 18th January at 7pm with Andrew Hall. Once again thank you for your support and we will see you in the New Year in-store or at one of our Pop-up displays around the country.
